MAYOR PLEDGES TO FIGHT FOR SAME-SEX MARRIAGE New Yorkers danced through the drizzle during the annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride March, which began on Fifth Avenue in Midtown and concluded in the West Village. The first openly gay speaker of the City Council, Christine Quinn, served as grand marshal, along with a longtime social activist and restaurant owner, Florent Morellet. Also marching were Senator Clinton and Mayor Bloomberg, who reiterated his pledge to fight for same-sex marriage in Albany if the Court of Appeals rules that it is not permitted under current state law.
